Character Name: Spark Effervescence Steam+Zapps. Their superhero name as a team is The Electric Current
Character Canon: OC
Canon Background: From her story (In progress) she is a robotics engineer, alien, who recovered Zapps from his hidden site on the planet that was being colonized. They worked together to build the suit they wear together and went on to assist her friends to help bring down the big bad. She's a Casroon which probably means nothing to most people.
Spark is about 5 foot 2. She has a small, blunt muzzle with a reptilian look to her, with blue scales running over most of her body. Her chest, which lacks mammary glands of any kind, is exposed as is her stomach. She requires around 1.1 ATM (At minimum. Her optimal is much higher.) pressure to survive due to being from a high pressure world and thus cannot interact with humans for the most part without wearing a suit that pressurizes her. Her scales are teal-light blue, while her exposed skin tends to be a darker blue. She has slitted eyes and no hair. She is atypical for a Casroon as she is a Matron, a mutant, leading to her being taller but also losing the nano-fiber hairs in the fingers similar to geckos.
Zapps is an AI specialized to control a suit. He comes from a high-tech species of AIs with a variety of different specializations, which some of which are just like him. Most obey closely to what they were designed for, while still having their own personality quirks. Zapps is starting to develop his, as he rightly notes he is quite young for his race.
Omegafriends Background: Spark is from Casreii, home to the Casroons. It is primarily a land of great magic though technology has come more to the fore front in the years that Spark is from. Those of magical ability are born under the Elemental Sigils normally and even those that are not born under them are bound by the caste of their scales. Spark is a Steam, light blue to teal scales determining their role in producing power, managing electricity, and more recently, things involving computer work. Spark herself is a bit of an aberration (Though not entirely uncommon, just it's frowned upon.) because her skill set takes her dangerously close to infringing on Metal element's territory by her heavy work in materials application and mechanical engineering. Her being a rebellious young Matron who has no interest in being a ruler is generally considered pretty normal though: most natural mutation Matron's do not accept their roles readily as leaders. (The social structure is similar as per normal Casroon society, but it is a sci-fi, highly industrial society and not a magic based one in their normal setting.)
Spark's true destiny wasn't set off until Zapps crash landed near her home. She recovered him and talked with him before deciding to build him his new body with the specifications he gave her. With a lot of work that took the course of 2 years of scrounging, forcing her job to make specialized materials, and other things, she came together with the suit. The exact specifications came form Zapps, but the skill in its construction was all on Spark. She also gave Zapps his name during this period. With this she decided to make herself into a superhero. Not unheard of on her planet: Earth isn't the only planet with super villains. She even was inducted into the hallowed hall of the Sigil Citadel, the first technological hero to be part of their honored group of heroes.
The Heroes were like a second family to her. Most were not Matrons like herself, Matrons mostly involved themselves with politics once they had that rebellious drive die down. So she tended to be a bit of a giant among them, but their group still appreciated her. Her best friends were the Smoke caste hero who specialized in illusion magic named Wisp and rather impetus individual like herself, a fire caste named Glare. They were a bit of a team, her acting more of the tough guy to the others more deceptive and hard hitting tactics. Not that they didn't know how to pull their punches, heroes on her world were held accountable to the same level as on Earth.
Despite friendships and growing admiration, a bitter suspicion towards true AIs remained on her world. The attempted invasion by the mad AI a century ago still lingered as a dark memory.Even though Zapps was unaffiliated with this creature, Zapps and his species seeing themselves as guardians, they still would still fall under the same suspicion. Spark's in turn developed ways that he could speak through her as needed. Still eventually someone figured it out and got the evidence to show the world this. Rather than subject him to possible harm, Spark decided that leaving was the best idea. With the help of her fellow heroes and friends, she managed to build a ship and leave.
And Earth was her destination. With her ship well hidden, she has come to Earth to continue her career as a hero. Can't say no to stopping the bad guys. She's spent some time before attempting to join learning Earth stuff, and feels pretty comfortable with her new home. Even if she's still in the "ALL THIS IS SO NEW STAGE."
Zapps will never admit it, but he is kind of in the same stage.
Affiliation: Omegafriends
Personality: Spark is has impetus, sharp, and quick to act. She is primarily defined by a rather great lust for doing things. She hates standing still and must be working on a project or wanting to get into a scrap. She seems to have boundless energy and that tends to act so. She tends to prefer to solve problems with the bad guy's by defeating them rather than talking them out, generally unaware of collateral damage as a thing. At least in terms of smashing buildings, she is aware of hurting lives that way and avoids them. She is generally an optimist on top of all of it.
Spark primarily finds her greatest loves as defeating the bad guys and working on her projects as a robotics engineer. She is quite skilled at both really. She is fond of corny lines and loves to learn about new things as well. She is quite fascinated by Earth culture and has taken well to learning the language of her adopted home of Venture City. She has also made quite the effort to translate her terms to this language, but her lack of poetics is where things like “Spark” come from since she tends to translate as simply as possible. She tends to seem venal in her loves, liking things like simple, easy to taste food and simple rock music, though that might be because she's new to Earth culture and not because she herself is shallow entirely in her cultural tastes.
Zapps is far more reserved in his personality. He prefers not to talk to other people than Spark unless there's a reason to, using Casta (Her language) as a method of communicating while others don't overhear. It has more clicks and chitters than your average human language to boot. His interests tend to be more mechanical in nature. He likes to learn about culture and different things for the novel interest of extra data, not for the pleasure of it. Not to say Zapps doesn't enjoy things, but he is incapable of enjoy food and drink, aural communications is not natural to him, and he is used to a vastly different style of art. His only real common pleasure is chattering with Spark and enjoying their banter.
Zapps tends to talk in more elongated form, preferring complicated wording over simpler statements. Zapps is also the more 'wise' so to speak of the two. His advanced systems tends to make him more the one doing detective work and he determines the exact strength needed to ensure they don't cause any severe trauma or death. Just needed to stop people. Though his reluctance to speak can lead to him making Spark speak on his behalf. When she talks like she's reading for a cue card, it's usually a sign that she's reading something from him. At the same time she's quite willing to modify the message if she feels it's too blunt or doesn't agree.
Zapps will admit his name eats.
As a whole, Zapps tends to defer to the opinion of Spark when trying to deal with social interactions. She has a lot more experience there and her quirky, chirpy voice tends to be more attractive than his deep, resonant, and electronic one. Spark tends to defer to Zapps when it comes to complicated plans and detective work as a whole, knowing he has the metal brain and processing power to do it. Spark tends to get distracted too easily for it and her lack of loquacious words tends to make her not sound too formal. Zapps also tends to help her with word choice where it's important. Huzzah for thesauruses.
Powers:
Armor: The armor is made out a combination of hyper-tensile polymers that act as the soft cushions, pressurized systems, and sealants, ceramic heat absorbers and impact stoppers, and metallic armor plates that shift and curve to deflect off weapons. It's quite advanced, enough that a standard set of rounds won't do much and even a tank shell would be hard pressed to do damage in armor form. That said the suit's more about mobility than armor, so it's not that heavy even if it's well designed. It is quite flexible in design as well, though when Spark and Zapps aren't synchronized Spark has to call out the shifts out loud. She does them in English, which is technically a disadvantage but she always had a love for the corny.
Weapons:
FIREPOWER!: Converts the Arm Mass into a large rifle. Fires electric bolts against organic targets but can fire cutting lasers when non-lethal. Can be split into two smaller weapons.
FISTS!: Converts arm mass into rocket fists tipped with kinetic force mitts. The actual force behind them is precisely controlled to prevent undue injury.
CUTTERS!: Converts arm mass into energy blades. These glide through most substances, so they are rarely used against organic targets. Quite good for dealing with robotic servants.
ROCKET BARRGE!: Only available in armor mode. Fires a barrage of rockets with adjustable payloads. These are dumb fire and prone to going off target, though most are tipped with stun rockets and not real warheads. Real warheads are only used if damage to buildings is required. Zapps considers them too unwieldy to use otherwise. Spark is working on a fix for that.
SHIELD!: Changes Arm mass into a light field generator that acts to repulse physical matter and absorb other forms of energy. Directional.
Torso Forms
ARMOR!: Removes all wings and armors the torso region heavily. Prevents high speed, but enhances any weapons if necessary.
HIGH SPEED!: Armor is swept back and removed, the wings are enlarged to allow for larger thrusters in the ring around the center. Allows her to move at highest speed available.
MIXED!: Balances armor versus speed, giving her decent wings and thrust, while decent armor as well.
Wing Forms
THRUSTERS!: Circular thrusters in the middle of adjustable wings on the back. They can adjust the direction of thrust independently of the torso. These are usually the domain of Zapps for split second decisions, but Sparks controls their general heading.
SOLAR PANELS!: Normally Spark doesn’t need to yell for this one, but to supplement energy generation solar panels can be used. Can also redirect light if need be, but that's not their primary purpose. Does not work if Spark says SLRPNLS instead.
Leg Forms
SKATE!: Boot thrusters with light legs, giving them nearly the requirement to 'skate' above the surface on the boot thrusters rather than land.
RUNNING!: More of a balanced between stability and speed like Mixed above.
STOMPERS!: These are big, honking boots that pretty much keep her where she is. Whether she likes it or not. Zapps will admit this is an unwise thing to use given the design of the armor, but it can be used.
Weaknesses: Zapps is robotic, so EMPs is a usual enemy. The energy demands of the suit is also quite taxing. While it does have a battery that has an infinite supply of energy, it's parceled out into the energy storage bit by bit so they can only operate at high energy consumption for a limited period (Probably 10 minutes). Usually they work in high energy sprints and then try to get into talking situations with the bad guy (They do love to monologue) to let some recharge occur. It recharges much faster if the solar panels can work their magic.
Spark can be knocked out even inside the armor, so a hard enough hit that doesn't breach can render her unconscious. While Zapps can command without her, shifting without her consciousness could kill her so he can't do that. Usually his priority one is to run at this point. Also breaches in the armor cause her to pass out because of the pressure requirements she has. It's usually easier to bring her down than the whole.
Synchronize: Spark and Zapps can synchronize by reaching a similar emotional state and Spark plugging in directly with Zapps. They start to talk as one unit after this, but does make them faster, stronger, and drains less energy. However Zapps calculative energies are now tied up in actually focusing on the fight, so he can no longer act to hold them back. It is not used unless the opponent is too strong and could handle a full force pummeling. It is also pretty painful to Sparks, so she may be reluctant just because of that. It also unlocks them being able of full flight.
